Twin Villa Interior Design

See All Projects

The Twin Villa was designed with very specific requirements in mind. The client desired an original yet minimalist theme for his home. The concept of minimalist architecture which is to strip everything down to its essential quality and achieve simplicity, was embraced thoroughly. Ornamentation, detailings, and joinery were introduced with maximum optimization of usable spaces in consideration.

As it was a small villa with limited space, I have strived to maximize the spaciousness of the rooms, using carefully chosen angle, materials, and lighting. The wall tiles and paint was chosen, keeping in mind the potential of colors and texture to make the space appear roomy. Preventing congestion was a priority; therefore every decor and furnishing was chosen with care.

The ample use of white, and wall decoration like simple metallic frame art and abstract paintings was to render an original quality to the room without too many additions. Our vision was to use simplicity and few unique features to elevate the room. The abstract art canvasses were added because they could transform the room, and create an inspirational environment. They were contrasted againt neutral shades and customized solid wood furnitures, which used laminates in the same colour. The upholstery of the sofa was a warm blue which perfectly complements the other elements in the room. The curtains and blinds used were also in white because they make a room look larger, especially in the morning when the space is bathed in natural light.

The kitchen has symmetrical, clean lines with a colour scheme of white and wood. It becomes more grounded when white is combined with a wood tone. Additionally, it removes the white of the clouds and gives them stability and heaviness.

White home

The combination of wood and white is timeless because wood is tactile, human, brave, and real. The breakfast bar was positioned close to the kitchen such that it could be accessed from the dining area. As it connected the kitchen and dining area, where food can be transferred after preparation, this had a significant functional dimension.

For the ‘Puja’ room, we decided to go with a minimalist and modern design instead of the customary traditional one. Profile lighting was used to make the space pop, and create an ethereal glow, bringing the deity into the spotlight.
